The Africa Green Economy and Sustainability Institute (AGESI) has officially released its 2026 Executive Training Catalogue, marking a significant step in the continent’s efforts to lead the global shift toward a sustainable economy.

The new curriculum is specifically designed to equip senior decision-makers across the public and private sectors with the strategic tools necessary to navigate what the institute calls the “defining economic and geopolitical opportunity of our generation”.

The 2026 programme arrives at a time when the global transition to a green economy is no longer an aspiration but the “new organising principle of economic competitiveness”. According to Emeritus Prof Babajide Alo, AGESI’s Chair of Patrons, the institute’s mandate is to ensure Africa leads this transformation rather than follows it.

The curriculum moves away from traditional academic lectures in favour of an intensive, practice-driven model. “This is a series of modules forged in the crucible of real-world policy and market challenges,” stated Prof Folake Anjorin, Programme Director at AGESI.
The catalogue features a wide array of five-day intensive modules, ranging from foundational leadership to specialised sectoral strategies. Highlights from the 2026 schedule include The Green Economy Strategic Imperative (C101), designed for cabinet ministers and CEOs to reframe the climate crisis as a lever for national competitiveness and security, Green Finance & Climate Budgeting (C301), a course focused on demystifying the complex architecture of international climate funds and green bonds, Sustainable Aviation & Green Transport (C308), led by Dr Richard Aisebeogun, this pioneering course addresses the decarbonization of aviation and the potential for African-produced sustainable fuels, Blue Economy Strategy (C309), anchored by Mfon Ekong Usoro, this module provides a framework for managing ocean resources and maritime governance, and High-Stakes Negotiation (C201), a simulation-based programme to help leaders secure optimal terms in climate finance and trade agreements.
A unique feature of the AGESI 2026 programme is the ‘Leadership Pillar’ instructional model. Each course is anchored by a senior expert who provides intellectual and professional oversight, ensuring that the training is grounded in “lived leadership” and practical institutional reform.
AGESI’s Executive Director Eugene Itua noted that the faculty does not simply “import models” but co-creates solutions tailored to Africa’s unique dynamism and diversity.
To accommodate the schedules of busy executives, all programmes are available as one-week intensive modules, delivered either in person at AGESI’s Lagos campus or via a virtual platform.
Participants can also pursue a distinguished AGESI Executive Certificate by completing a tailored pathway of three courses and a final ‘Capstone Project’ designed to deliver immediate strategic value to their home organisations.
Nominations and applications are currently being accepted through the official AGESI website, with a registration deadline set for 45 days prior to each course’s start date, according to a statement by the institute.
