Kano is bridging policy and practice in climate action through a proposed Climate Actors & Startup Toolkit, unveiled at the Climate Innovation Ecosystem Development (CIED) Roundtable, hosted by the Startup Kano Centre for Innovation Development, with support from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) under the PACE programme.
Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr Dahir M. Hashim, joined stakeholders at the event, crediting Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s leadership for Kano’s adopted Climate Change Policy, Implementation Plan, and pending Climate Change Bill to formalise state governance on climate issues.
The toolkit serves as a vital link, offering startups and private sector players alignment checklists, sector priorities, compliance routes, and protocols for engaging government agencies.
It operationalises the state’s policy ahead of the upcoming law, fostering scalable, investment-ready climate solutions.
Hashim highlighted that this alignment creates a robust pipeline of homegrown innovations to drive measurable environmental and economic impact across Kano.
