Radisson Blu has once again been named ‘Africa’s Leading Hotel Brand’ at the 2025 World Travel Awards Africa, marking its fourth consecutive year securing the region’s most prestigious hospitality accolade.
This achievement underscores Radisson Blu’s strong presence and leadership in the African hospitality landscape.
At the same ceremony, the broader Radisson Hotel Group celebrated notable success, earning 14 additional awards. Highlights included Radisson Blu Hotel & Convention Centre, Kigali winning Africa’s Leading Conference Hotel, alongside a sweep of country-specific awards in Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, and Senegal, reaffirming the Group’s extensive influence across the continent.
Radisson Hotel Group’s heritage dates back to 1960 with the opening of the Radisson Collection Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The Group entered the African market in 2000, launching Radisson Blu Hotel, Waterfront Cape Town, now transitioned to Radisson Collection Hotel, Waterfront Cape Town.
In the past 15 months, Radisson Hotel Group signed 11 new hotels and opened seven, bringing its footprint to 100 hotels across more than 30 African countries. Recent developments include the swift opening of Radisson Blu Hotel, Conakry, and the signing of new properties such as Radisson Blu Hotel & Apartments, Yaoundé. The Radisson Blu Hotel, Kinshasa is slated for late 2026 opening.
Tim Cordon, Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia Pacific at Radisson Hotel Group, restated that the company’s strategic focus is on Africa.
Cordon said, “Winning four years in a row isn’t luck. It reflects a clear strategy, strong local partnerships, and a brand culture that turns every stay into a memorable moment.”
Radisson Hotel Group aims to expand its African portfolio to 150 hotels by 2030, continuing to blend global hospitality standards with authentic local insights to meet the continent’s growing demand for quality hotel experiences.
