MEF has announced dates for this year’s Global Carrier Billing & Mobile Payments Summit in Amsterdam, taking place September 29-30, 2026.

The rules of carrier billing are being rewritten. The line between mobile wallets and carrier billing is blurring. Companies in the digital content, subscriptions, gaming products or premium services online spaces are going to have to make some important decisions in the coming year.

The carriers who understand what’s coming will be the ones who define it. The businesses that understand where the convergence of wallets and billing is blurring will be best placed to capture the opportunity. And the premium merchants who make the right decisions will be the ones to thrive.

PSD3 is live. Open Finance is expanding. AI is reshaping fraud prevention and personalisation. And the fintech models being pioneered in MENA (Middle East and North Africa) right now will reach European markets within 24 months.

Open Finance regulation is expanding the data and payment rails available to wallet providers. PSD3 is creating new obligations and new openings. And the alternative payments landscape—wallets, DCB (Direct Carrier Billing), BNPL, A2A—is becoming a contested space where differentiation will matter enormously.

Google’s advertising changes are already affecting acquisition costs and attribution. The post-cookie identity landscape is reshaping how you reach and convert customers.

It’s exactly these developments, challenges and opportunities that are the agenda for the MEF Global Carrier Billing & Mobile Payments Summit—taking place in Amsterdam on 29 and 30 September 2026.

This is the industry’s only event built exclusively around carrier billing and mobile payments strategy — no vendor pitches, no recycled panels. Just the operators, regulators and innovators shaping what comes next.

The MEF Global Carrier Billing & Mobile Payments Summit 2026 will explore the continued evolution of mobile payments, including the role of DCB within broader financial ecosystems, emerging regulatory frameworks, alternative payment methods, and the importance of seamless cross-border experiences.

Payment service providers will contribute valuable localised insights into these rapidly evolving environments.

In parallel, leading merchants will showcase innovations in digital content and services, including streaming platforms, gaming (AR/VR), subscription models, flexible payment options such as Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL), and new approaches to distribution through carrier partnerships.

The agenda will also address the changing digital advertising landscape, including new identity solutions, opportunities around data utilisation, shifts in major platform policies, and the expanding role of telecom-led advertising capabilities.

Additional discussions will span payment and cybersecurity, regulatory developments, digital marketing strategies, and sustainability. Altogether, GCB&MPS serves as a central meeting point for Mobile Network Operators seeking to establish, expand, or showcase their carrier billing and payment capabilities in a rapidly transforming digital landscape.

The Mobile Ecosystem Forum (MEF) is a global trade body established in 2000 and headquartered in the UK, with members worldwide. As the independent voice of the mobile ecosystem, it focuses on cross-industry best practices, anti-fraud and monetisation. The Forum provides its members with global and cross-sector platforms for networking, collaboration, and the advancement of industry solutions.
